Why is this personal to me
I grew up surrounded by photographs. My dad owned a camera shop, so our albums overflowed with memories. Around town, I was known as “the cameraman’s daughter.
People often told me about a special photo my dad took for their family.
He never missed a moment; recitals, school events, games, always there with his camera, making sure those memories made it home with us.
Seeing our photos on the walls made my brother and me feel we belonged. We grew up surrounded by proof of our parents’ pride in us.
Now, as a parent myself, I see that same magic unfolding again. My son’s face lights up when he sees our family photos on the walls. Even as a toddler, he can point to each picture and name every family member, no matter how far away they live. Watching him recognize himself and the people who love him reminds me daily why printed images matter so much.
